Jevic opens new facility in Detroit; carrier cites customer demand
DELANCO, N.J. — Jevic Transportation Inc. has opened a new, operational facility to serve customers in the Detroit metropolitan area, expanding the company’s presence in the Midwestern United States. The company also has facilities in Cleveland and Cincinnati, Ohio, and Chicago.
The new Detroit Metro Facility, located at 18577 on the Dix-Toledo Highway in Brownstown Township, is situated with easy access to highway 75, the company reported. It sits on 16.5 acres and has 20 insulated doors on an 8,000-square-foot dock. It also has 3,550 square feet of office space attached.
“This facility allows us to better respond to our customers in the Detroit area,” said Dave Gorman, Jevic president and CEO. “It allows us to be even more responsive to our Detroit customers and improve on our pick-up and delivery performance in the greater Detroit metropolitan region.”
The company says the larger facility is an important addition in the Jevic Breakbulk-Free system, a program in which Jevic picks up shipments that are then sorted and loaded into trailers for sequential “load-to-ride” delivery.
“Continually expanding our Breakbulk-Free model allows us to bring the Jevic experience to a larger shipping population, improving supply chain consistency for our customers who, in turn, now have improved the experience for their customers,” said Gorman.
Jevic Transportation Inc. is an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners.
