DOTAuthority to sponsor new truckers' conference
ORLANDO, Fla. — DOTAuthority.com Inc., a national transportation management consulting firm, has announced a new three-day event for truckers.
To be called the Orlando Truckers’ Conference (OTC), the meeting will be held at the Orange County Convention Center here Feb. 16-18, 2007.
“The OTC is positioned to be a major, annual industry event in the Southeast,” Jennifer Principato, conference director, said.
Principato said that although numerous industry “truck shows” are offered across the United States, the OTC is the first of its kind and is geared toward helping company drivers and owner-operators learn how to make more money in trucking.
The OTC will offer professional development seminars to registered attendees such as “How to Find Freight” and “How to Develop Freight Rates.”
“The OTC will offer opportunities for drivers to meet with up to 100 exhibitors that provide products and services of interest to truckers,” Principato said, adding that the exhibition hall would feature refreshments, live entertainment, raffles and give-a-ways. A special Saturday evening concert by the “Road Hammers” will be offered at no additional charge to CDL-holders who pre-register on a “first come, first serve” basis. Tickets will be limited so Principato urged truckers to pre-register early.
On Friday, Feb. 16th, the OTC will offer fee-for-service, mandatory entry-level driver training and reasonable suspicion supervisor training.
Principato said more information about conference workshops could be found at www.go2otc.com.
Exhibitor move-in will also take place on Friday, followed by an evening social event for exhibitors.
The exhibition hall will be open to the public on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 18th, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission to the exhibition hall is $10 per person (children under 18 free).
All registrants will receive discounts to various Orlando area attractions, such as Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World, as well as discounted accommodations at the Rosen Plaza and The Days Inn Convention Center.
