AAIA, AASA convene historic joint meeting

LAS VEGAS (Jan. 26, 2007) — In the spirit of trade association collaboration, the volunteer leaders and executives of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) convened what the two groups called an historic joint meeting here on Jan. 22, 2007. Both groups were on hand for the opening of the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW).

Board executive committee members from both associations and the respective presidents met to discuss candidly issues of mutual interest including enhancements to AAPEX 2007 and initiatives to drive the U.S. aftermarket industry to China and other Asian markets.

"I sincerely hope that this historic meeting of the two associations' volunteer leadership is the first of many and the beginning of a healthy dialogue that will better serve our industry," Richard Morgan, AAIA chair and president, Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, said. "Collaboration is good for our industry, and AAIA and AASA work closely together on many fronts. I believe our recent meeting further demonstrates a serious commitment to taking the high road in serving the best interests of our respective members."
