EL PASO, Texas — Secure Trailer Lots has opened its El Paso safe haven to protect cargo and trailers from theft, to provide drop-lot services and terminal outsourcing, the company reported.
Additional transportation services available at the safe haven are cross-docking, transloading and warehousing, according to company news release. The El Paso safe haven is located at 13010 Gateway Blvd East.
The National Cargo Security Council reports that cargo losses from theft top $15 billion in the United States. The value of stolen cargo typically ranges from $12,000 to as much as $3 million. Thieves target trailers transporting pharmaceuticals, electronics, auto parts, clothing and other high value commodities and typically steal the cargo when it is at rest or unattended.
Secure Trailers Lots aims to reduce cargo theft by providing carriers a safe haven to park or store their high value loads, the company explained. The safe havens are designed to leverage best practices and technology to protect cargo and visibility to the carrier trailers.
Secure Trailer Lots bills itself as a specialized security company that bridges the security gap between shippers and customers for cargo at rest. Secure Trailer Lots offers secured parking, drop-lot services and terminal outsourcing to carriers, owner-operators, and manufacturers who require short-term or long-term parking. In addition, Secure Trailer Lots noted that the company has partnered with the industry’s leading criminal and employment background screening and drug testing services provider.
The company noted that it was founded by transportation professionals who experienced cargo theft and were compelled to reduce the threat. Secure Trailer Lots uses proven practices and procedures. Cargo and trailers are protected by security practices, yard management procedures, guards, cameras, yard pass software and online reporting. The company also has a “no exceptions” policy to minimize the opportunity for thieves to exploit security gaps.
Secure Trailer Lots operates four cargo safe havens in Texas and Georgia. Future safe havens are planned for Arizona, Missouri, Pennsylvania, California, Florida, Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois, Washington, Utah, and Minnesota.
