SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Highway Patrol troopers have seized more than 285 pounds of marijuana after spending the weekend making traffic stops as part of a crackdown on drug trafficking along Interstate 80.
The highway patrol special squad made 320 traffic stops during the four-day operation, resulting in 14 major drug busts.
I-80 is a major pipeline for drugs traveling from Mexico and California to parts of the U.S.
The marijuana seized in the highway patrol operation was headed from northern California to places like Colorado, Kansas, New Hampshire, New York and Virginia.
