Trucker killed while moving concrete in Bakersfield

According to Kern County sheriff’s officials, a worker was moving the concrete cylinders, each about 20 feet long and 18 inches in diameter, with a fork lift. The machine apparently malfunctioned, and a cylinder crushed trucker David Krogman.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Officials say a trucker who was unloading 5,000-pound concrete cylinders from his vehicle in Bakersfield was killed when one of the cylinders fell on him.

Fifty-seven-year-old David Krogman was an employee of Robison Trucking Inc. in Muscatine, Iowa. Krogman had delivered the cargo to Frontier High School and was helping workers from Bronco Electric Co. unload it when the accident happened Thursday morning.

According to Kern County sheriff’s officials, a worker was moving the concrete cylinders, each about 20 feet long and 18 inches in diameter, with a fork lift. The machine apparently malfunctioned, and a cylinder crushed Krogman.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
