MADISON, Ind. — Grote Industries has developed what the company said is the industry’s first totally modular power delivery and lighting system, complete from nose box to taillight.
The Ultra-Blue-Seal harness system, paired with Grote’s new Ultra-Nose-Box receptacle and Grote’s broad portfolio of lighting products, provides an unparalleled electrical and lighting platform for trailers.
“Our modular power delivery system creates a sophisticated, durable, weather-resistant electronic backbone for today’s demanding trailer manufacturers and fleets,” Dominic Grote, vice president of sales and marketing for Grote Industries, said. “The system minimizes wiring mistakes and downtime, while maximizing fleet and worker performance, providing the highest return on investment and lowest cost-per-mile technically possible today.”
He said the Grote Ultra-Nose-Box is the latest in a series of innovative products that have both anticipated and addressed the trucking industry’s lighting and electrical needs, noting that the product “solves the current problem of cracked, corroded and crowded electrical junction boxes. With double the standard number of pin connections, a push-on plug function, a durable glass-filled nylon housing, insert-molded pins that seal out moisture and corrosive materials and easily replaceable parts, Grote’s Ultra-Nose-Box delivers the future today.”
From molded, threaded brass inserts that ensure the nose box is locked down, to a special mounting gasket that protects against moisture, Grote said the Ultra-Nose-Box is built to perform in tough conditions.
Complementing the Ultra-Nose-Box is Grote Industries’ Ultra-Blue-Seal (UBS) harness system. “As the world’s first modular harness system, UBS has over 30 years of innovation and leadership behind it,” Grote said. “The UBS System offers unsurpassed connection sealing characteristics, configuration flexibility and expansion capacity. The UBS system remains the number one best-seller in the North American heavy-duty trailer market, with nearly 3.5 million system components sold annually”
The UBS connector system provides the industry’s best protection against weather, dirt and corrosion, the company said in a news release.
Grote’s patented double seal technology features dual sealing rings that give twice the sealing power of any other connector brand. Male pin lamp plugs, such as those featured on Grote’s renowned SuperNova line of LED lamps, are reinforced with banded terminals and a grease slot that keeps moisture out, Grote said.
“The whole is worth even more than the sum of its parts,” Grote said. “A total power and lighting system that is 100 percent sealed and waterproof simply works better. A better performing system means a better performing vehicle and ultimately, a better performing fleet. We call the resulting gain in productivity the Grote Performance Advantage.”
UBS is flexible without being complex, the company said.
“The design allows for many types of connections without having to change the entire harness system,” Grote said. “The system is easy to expand, because all the plugs use the same UBS™ sealing technology and better connections mean longer life and higher reliability. The UBS™ seal helps keep critical connections and components from corroding, even in the toughest road conditions.
“Ultra-Nose-Box, Ultra-Blue-Seal and SuperNova technology are three more examples of Grote Industries’ commitment to consistent, excellent performance from design to engineering to manufacture and on-the-job function,” Grote said.
