Diesel falls again, ends year at $2.327

WASHINGTON — The weekly on-highway diesel price today fell another 3.9 cents a gallon to $2.327, a staggering drop of $1.018 per gallon from one year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy. 

The price Dec. 29 was down $2.437 per gallon from the record high of $4.764 per gallon set on July 14. Diesel has fallen almost every week since mid July.

All regions showed a decline this week although the west coast was only down $0.001 from last week, at $2.273 per gallon.

California was at $2.241 a gallon Dec. 29, down $0.010 per gallon from last week and down $1.250 per gallon from the same week one year ago.

The region with the highest price was the New England region at $2.638 per gallon. The least expensive place to buy a gallon of diesel was the Rocky Mountain region at $2.250 per gallon.
