ARLINGTON, Texas — The Midnight Trucking Radio Network (MTRN) has announced an expanded listening option for truckers through live streaming on the iPhone.
Along with MTRN being the only free content available to truckers, MTRN continues to lead in providing new means of distribution to its listeners, the show said in a news release.
“We feel this is a very cutting edge option for our new generation of drivers,” Eric Harley, co-host of MTRN, said. “More and more truckers are buying this new technology to listen to their favorite shows such as iPods/MP3 players and the new iPhone, to name a few. MTRN is the No. 1 content provider for the trucking industry and with iPhones flying off the shelf, it is one more ‘mass approach’ to allowing our industry to access top quality content to keep truckers/owner operators running more efficiently.”
“We also feel very strongly that truckers should have numerous means of hearing our content FREE of charge only,” Gary McNamara, co-host, said. “With truckers fighting to make payments and stay in business, MTRN needs to focus on all free means possible for their listeners to pick up the show. Now, thanks to cutting-edge on-demand technology, and outlets such as powerhouse AM radio stations with HD AM, iPhones, podcasting on midnighttrucking.com and iTunes, our listeners are able to pick MTRN up anywhere at any time at no charge.”
The overnight, news/talk program, which airs 12 midnight-5 a.m. CST Monday through Sunday on its network of radio station affiliates nationwide, will make it’s iPhone streaming debut during the first quarter of 2009, and will be available to listen live on the go ”in cab or at home” free of charge.
As of Dec. 31, 2008, MTRN stopped supply its content via subscription based/paid programming via XM Satellite, but will offer free listening options to all SiriusXM subscribers.
