Informal poll: laws needed to ensure fuel taxes only spent on highways

The Trucker Staff

2/18/2008

An informal poll on The Trucker Web site on road congestion solutions shows that 49.70 percent of those taking the poll (166 respondents) wanted to see laws to ensure fuel taxes are spent only on highway infrastructure, followed by 39.22 percent (131) who thought trucks-only lanes would be a good way to go.

A scant 0.30 percent (1 person) voted for adding tolls while only two people (0.60 percent) advocated privatization of interstates and tollways and only three people (0.90 percent) were in favor of rate increases on existing toll roads.

Twenty-three people or 6.89 percent, wanted to see all existing toll rates lowered while eight voters or 2.40 percent, wanted fuel tax increases.
