ProMiles releases online routing application for Hispanic truckers

BRIDGE CITY, Texas — ProMiles Software has announced the release of the first online routing application targeted to the Hispanic driver market at www.millasdecamion.com.

Statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor indicate that Hispanic drivers make up almost 20 percent of the workforce, making Hispanics the largest minority in the U.S. long-haul driver demographic.

The projected driver shortage, combined with the continued push to allow more Mexican based companies to operate beyond the commercial zones in the United States, indicates that this percentage will continue to grow in the future.

“We believe that having the ability to view the driving directions in Spanish would be appropriate for many drivers,” Tim Pilcher, ProMiles president of support and development, said.  “Especially in metropolitan areas with a significant number of one way streets or low clearances, driving directions can become complex depending on the actual destination.”

“Over 500,000 drivers is a market that we had to consider,” Tony Stroncheck, ProMiles president of sales and marketing, said. “While many drivers are from Mexico, we are also seeing increases in drivers from Central and South America as well as some of the Caribbean Islands.”

Utilizing ProMiles routing software, the new website, millasdecamion.com, allows drivers to calculate distance between two points, driving directions and estimated driving time, as well as view the average price of diesel fuel in each state.

The website also provides links to state road conditions and weather forecasts as well as other valuable driver information.
