OKLAHOMA CITY — State transportation officials plan to build nine modern weigh stations at key entry points into Oklahoma over the next seven years.
Oklahoma Department of Transportation Director Gary Ridley told state transportation commissioners on Monday the new stations will replace ones that are rarely used and have become antiquated and almost nonfunctional.
The new stations will be located along Interstate 40 in Sequoyah and Beckham counties, I-44 in Cotton and Ottawa counties, I-35 in Love and Kay counties, U.S. Highway 69/75 in Bryan County, U.S. Highway 271 in Choctaw County and U.S. Highway 412 in Delaware County.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission is picking up $54 million of the project's $61 million cost. The Corporation Commission is responsible for staffing the weigh stations.
