Diesel inches up slightly, stays below $4 at $3.989

After shooting up by double-digits five weeks in a row, the diesel average increased 1.5 cents this week to $3.989, which was up a whopping $1.313 from the same week one year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration.
The price of $3.989 is a Weekly Retail On-Highway Diesel price and while this average stayed below $4, prices around the country have been reported above this amount. Even the weekly average in several areas was over the $4 mark: East Coast ($4.045); New England ($4.142); Central Atlantic ($4.186), and West Coast ($4.056).
