EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Accuride Corp. said Wednesday that it has entered into a joint venture with Benecor Inc. to build a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) (UREA) dispensing infrastructure.
Engine and truck manufacturers have spent tremendous resources developing engine offerings that comply with new emissions standards that become effective in 2010. Many have adopted Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology that requires the use of DEF (UREA) as a central operating fluid that virtually eliminates nitrous-oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engines. In addition to having equipment on a vehicle that provides emissions compliance, it is equally important to have easy access to the fluid required to operate this system.
Accuride and Benecor are joining together to provide the dispensing systems required to service this coming need.
“We are very happy to fill this need in the market place,” explained Steve Holt, Accuride’s senior vice president of Strategy, Growth, and Technology. “Accuride has strong relationships throughout the commercial vehicle industry as does Benecor. Our truck, OEM and fleet customers, DEF producers, and chemical distributors are thrilled to have us step up and fill this market void. We are planning to build an infrastructure which will provide a cost-effective solution to ensure ease of compliance for the industry.”
“We recognize the sheer scope of effort required to meet the needs of this market rollout, and joining with Accuride will afford us the opportunity to expedite the manufacturing and installation of the storage and dispensing units at truck stops, diesel fueling stations and fleets throughout North America. We could not have asked for a better partner to meet this challenge,” explained Brendan Foster, president of Benecor.
Accuride Corp. is one of the largest and most diversified manufacturers and suppliers of commercial vehicle components in North America. Accuride’s products include commercial vehicle wheels, wheel-end components and assemblies, truck body and chassis parts, seating assemblies and other commercial vehicle components. Accuride’s products are marketed under its brand names, which include Accuride, Gunite, Imperial, Bostrom, Fabco, and Brillion.
Benecor Inc. designs and develops UREA dispensers for the diesel engine market, including large capacity above- and below-ground tanks.
