LOUISVILLE, Ky. — ArvinMeritor Inc. has received a new, long-term, multi-million-dollar, supply agreement to provide remanufactured transmissions and axle carriers to Navistar Parts under the ReNEWed brand. Mascot, a recent ArvinMeritor acquisition, has produced remanufactured components since 2000 for the ReNEWed program as the exclusive supplier.

Navistar Parts is a brand of Navistar Inc., which also produces International Trucks.

“We’re delighted to gain this re-confirmation of Navistar’s belief in our operation’s quality products,” said Glenn Hanthorn, president of Mascot.

Last December, ArvinMeritor acquired Mascot Truck Parts Ltd., a major remanufac-turer of transmissions, drive axle carriers, steering gears and drivelines, based in Mississauga, Ontario

At an annual company event held in conjunction with the Mid-America Trucking Show here, ArvinMeritor representatives told reporters Wednesday the company maintains its focus on the strategic growth of quality remanufactured components for end-users.

The company launched its first remanufactured product in 1983 and has repeatedly emphasized the program’s importance to serving customers’ aftermarket appetite for dependable remanufactured components.

“What Mascot does for us is it puts us in a field of products we have not played in before, and we’re excited about that,” said Joe Mejaly, vice president of ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket unit, speaking at the press conference.

Mascot‘s six Canadian remanufacturing locations include three in Mississauga, Ontario; and one each in Edmonton, Alberta; Moncton, New Brunswick; and Boucherville, Quebec.

In addition to opening new market opportunities, Mejaly also pointed out the importance Mascot’s network of supply centers in serving customers’ needs for quick turnarounds on critical parts.

ArvinMeritor acquired Mascot in December 2007. Mascot Truck Parts Ltd. is a long term player in the Heavy Duty industry. Founded in 1936, it has evolved into one of the largest heavy duty specialists in North America, applying its expertise to rebuilding all makes of transmissions, differentials, and steering gears.
