18-wheeler crashes down on car, but occupants escape unharmed

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — The occupants of a car miraculously escaped injury when an 18-wheeler overturned and crashed down on a car on the New Jersey Turnpike Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. on the southbound side of the turnpike just south of Exit 7A.

Authorities said said firefighters and emergency medical crews from Robbinsville Township and Allentown responded to find the car's occupants standing outside of vehicle.

Firefighters helped free the trucker from the wrecked cab of his rig. EMTs examined the driver as a precaution, but he did not require medical treatment.

Names of the occupants of the car and that of the trucker were not released.

Tthe truck was carrying a load of St. Pauli Girl beer. The accident closed one south-bound traffic lane. State police are continuing their investigation.
