HORSESHOE BEND, Ark. — Domino, the female German Shepherd found by a passerby near here, has been reunited with her owner, trucker Ben Giefer.

According to Susan Clay, a volunteer at Horseshoe Bend (Ark.) Animal Control, the passerby found Domino and brought her to the shelter, where workers identified Giefer through a tag.

In an effort to notify Giefer, among other communications methods, a notice was posted on www.thetrucker.com urging anyone who knew Giefer to have him call the shelter and gave the number.

Clay didn't know how he found out, but Giefer did call the shelter and Thursday morning came to pick up Domino. It was just in the nick of time, too. Because the dog had been at the facility a number of days, Animal Control workers on Friday were going to put the word out that Domino was up for adoption by the general public in efforts to find her a good home. Of course, they were still hoping against hope that Deomino would be reunited with her rightful owner. “When he came to pick her up there was no doubt who she belonged to,“ said Clay, adding that Shepherds bond deeply with their masters.

All we can say is bow wow; we at TheTrucker.com are as happy as Giefer and Domino about the reunion.
