NESBIT, Miss. — Mississippi Department of Transportation enforcement officers are continuing their investigation into the seizure of $1.3 million found during a truck inspection in DeSoto County.
The MDOT said officers, during a routine inspection of the empty 18-wheeler at the Nesbit Inspection Scales on Tuesday, noticed the truck's sleeper and a side window of the cab were broken.
MDOT said the officers questioned the driver, who agreed to a search. Officers found two large suitcases with the money in the sleeper compartment.
The drivers and two passengers were not identified.
MDOT enforcement director Willie Huff said they were released pending an investigation.
