Kellogg recognizes DSC for service, innovation

CHICAGO — DSC Logistics, an integrated logistics and supply chain management company, recently was presented with The Kellogg Company’s 2007 “Top Gun Award” in the retail category for excellence in service, cost, quality and innovation at DSC’s Columbus, Ohio, Logistics Center.

The Top Gun Award, established in 2000, is the Kellogg Company’s highest honor given to third party logistics providers. In presenting the award, a spokesperson for Kellogg said the DSC Columbus team was “clearly a leader in the areas of case ordered accuracy. They demonstrated consistently solid numbers and, for (11 of the 12 months measured) had a yearly case order accuracy of 99.96% or greater. They also delivered strong results in the area of monthly net inventory…”

The DSC operation in Columbus achieved high scores on three Kellogg audits to qualify for the award; they scored a “Superior” rating on the AIB audit; were the only facility to achieve an overall “GREEN” score in the Property Management audit that measures ability to maintain the property and building in good operating condition; and scored well in the Inventory Audit. To win the Top Gun Award, DSC received scores that topped a field of eight Logistics Centers. This is the third time that DSC has been recognized in the Top Gun competition, the company said.

According to DSC, the partnership with Kellogg dates back to 1988, with the Columbus Logistics Center handling Kellogg products since 2000. In that time, DSC and Kellogg have successfully executed a number of major changes including conversion to SAP system, network realignment, a platform change, and expanded value-added services. In March of 2008, DSC was awarded additional business by The Kellogg Company and by 2009, will be managing a combined total of approximately 3.8 million square feet of warehouse space for Kellogg in Columbus; Allentown, Pennsylvania; and Atlanta, Georgia.
