Secure Trailer Lots opens high security drop lot in Atlanta

ATLANTA — Secure Trailer Lots is opening a  new high security drop lot designed to protect cargo and trailers from theft and tampering. The Atlanta lot is a high security location that offers drop lot services plus office space, warehousing, and cross-docks providing carriers all the amenities for terminal operations, the company said. The Atlanta Secure Trailer Lots is located at 3184 Fayetteville Road SE, Atlanta.

The National Cargo Security Council reports that cargo losses from theft top $15 billion in the United States. The value of stolen cargo typically ranges from $12,000 to as much as $3 million. These costs are staggering, but they do not include the cost when thieves have tampered with the trailer, according to Secure Trailer Lots. Thieves target trailers transporting pharmaceuticals, electronics, auto parts, clothing and other high value commodities and typically steal the cargo when it is at rest or unattended.

Secure Trailers Lots says the company reduces the risk for cargo theft by providing high security drop lots, transportation consulting, and customized security services. The services include theft and tampering prevention, temperature control unit monitoring, first-line trailer maintenance coordination, sweep-outs, facilities for managing terminal operations, truck, trailer and container storage, and daily rates for overflow parking and other urgencies.

Secure Trailer Lots operates four cargo safe havens in Texas and Georgia. Future safe havens are planned for Arizona, Missouri, Pennsylvania, California, Florida, Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois, Washington, Utah, and Minnesota.
