DETROIT — Faced with a very tough economic environment, Teamster carhaul negotiators have reached a tentative national agreement with the National Automobile Transporters Labor Division that protects members’ job security and maintains their benefits over the contract’s three-year duration, the union reported.
“The economic conditions facing the auto industry and nation as a whole made negotiations very difficult, but the national committee remained focused on the members’ priorities—maintaining their benefits with no additional costs to members and protecting job security,” said Fred Zuckerman, Teamsters Carhaul Division director and lead negotiator. “Wages are also protected.”
More details about the tentative agreement will be reported once leaders from local unions that represent carhaul members get a chance to review the agreement and consider approving it, according to the union.
