Sometimes life can be like a twisting, turning country road

The road of life can be full of twists and turns.

What if you’re driving on this twisting, turning country road in the middle of the night, suddenly it becomes a steep decline and it starts “raining cats and dogs?”

Sweaty hands on the wheel, eyes squinting to see the road ahead, not knowing what lies around the next curve and God only knows how many curves there are going to be.

Sound familiar?

It should, it is a lot like the “road of life.”

There are rights, lefts, inclines, declines, sudden stops, hair raising swerves, an occasional “life altering” thunderstorm and the curves in the “darkness.”

In your professional life you realize the value of that truck you’re driving.

You wash and wax that truck and get it shining like a diamond.

You check your tires, your brakes, your mirrors, your lights, fasten your seat belt, check traffic and you pull out on the highway.

You do these things for your truck for safety and productivity.

On the other hand, let’s say you check your tires and a couple of them don’t look exactly right but you figure they’re good enough for the rest of this run.

Or how about the brakes don’t quite feel right but you’ll get them looked at after this run.

Inevitably, somewhere up that long highway your good judgment, or lack thereof, is put to the ultimate test and you will live with the outcome.

In our personal life, you and I both know that some of us take better care of our trucks than we do our health.

God gave us this body to navigate the twists, turns, up’s and downs on the highway of life.

Hopefully we all take showers to keep ourselves clean and “polished,” but do we keep up on the things we need to do to keep our body in good condition and safe?

Do we put off our regular medical exams?

Do we put off starting a healthy nutrition and exercise program because we figure we can always start next week, on our birthday, at the first of the year or, doggone it, right after this load to California?

There are so many things that can go wrong even if you do the right things with your truck and your health but even a slight oversight can make things a lot worse.

Obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, arterial problems, heart attacks, heartburn, digestive and bowel problems, arthritis, depression, sleep apnea and a multitude of ills are because we don’t keep ourselves prepared for the life highway!

The road you travel everyday to make your living has enough hazards in it without you throwing in your own such as poor tires or faulty brakes and poor judgment.

The same goes for this road God gave us called life! It has enough twists, turns, inclines, declines and surprises of its own without us adding to the fray by not taking care of the this wonderful “machine” we were given to get through it all with, our body.

Make sure when you leave your family, friends and all that you were supposed to accomplish in this life and your standing before the Lord, he can look you in the eye and say “Right on time my child,” and not, “You’re here a little early aren’t you?” I’d like to be a fly on the wall, if they have flies and walls in heaven, to hear what you tell Him!

A good nutritional program can go a long way in adding to life’s accomplishments, adding an exercise program to that nutritional program is an added bonus. We can help you with both and provide the guidance to help insure your success, but you have to supply the will.
