Sinkhole appears along I-70 in Colorado

SILVERTHORNE, Colo. — Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) officials are trying to determine a plan of action to repair a sinkhole that appeared Thursday afternoon, causing the closure of a west-bound traffic lane on Interstate 70 near Silverthorne.

CDOT said the sinkhole is six feet wide and four feet deep and is located above a culvert.

Crews were working to assess the damage, in addition to formulating an approach to repairs.

There were no reports of injuries.
