Diesel drops 11.5 cents to $4.603

The average U.S. price per gallon for diesel was $4.603 July 28, down $0.115 per gallon from last week, but still a whopping $1.717 higher than the same week last year, according to figures provided by the Energy Information Administration.

Today’s weekly retail on-highway diesel price average brought a bit of relief to truckers, although a few cents per gallon won’t immediately solve any problems.

The average U.S. price per gallon for diesel was $4.603 July 28, down $0.115 per gallon from last week, but still a whopping $1.717 higher than the same week last year, according to figures provided by the Energy Information Administration.

California had an average price per gallon of $4.869, down $0.095 from last week and up $1.717 a gallon from last year.

All regions in the report showed a drop in price per gallon of diesel. The Midwest at $4.518 was the lowest price per gallon of all regions, with a reduction of $0.131 from last week.

The New England region had the highest price per gallon at $4.806, down $0.063 from one week ago.
