GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Virginia truck driver has been arrested for allegedly soliciting sex online from a girl he thought was 13 years old, local authorities reported Thursday.

Steven Andrew Underwood, 39, of Wise, Va., was making a delivery in the Greensboro, N.C., area at the time he was taken into custody.

Underwood was booked at the Guilford County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond. He was making a delivery in the Greensboro area was arrested and charged Tuesday with soliciting sex online from what he thought was a 13-year-old girl, Guilford County deputies said.

Investigators said Underwood chatted with a deputy posing as the girl for a 30-day period. He allegedly was chatting with the girl/deputy and making plans to meet her in Greensboro at the time of his apprehension.

Guilford County sheriff's deputies have aggressively pursued people who solicit children online.

Deputies last month arrested three North Carolina teachers in a similar undercover sting effort.

A date for Underwood’s next court appearance has not been set.
