NEW ALBANY, Ohio — Commercial Vehicle Group Inc. reports that President and CEO Mervin Dunn has received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year 2008 Award in the turnaround category for the South Central Ohio and Kentucky region.
According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Dunn was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at The Duke Energy Center, Cincinnati on June 26, 2008.
When Dunn assumed control of the CVG in 2001, it was in financial distress. He quickly set a strategy that diversified the company’s customer base, expanded its geographic footprint and provided support for new and innovative products. Through a series of acquisitions, the company has grown to have 38 locations in eight countries. In 2004, CVG became a publicly traded company and achieved 2007 revenues of $697 million, up from $271 million in 2001.
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year honors entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptionality in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
As a South Central Ohio and Kentucky award recipient, Dunn is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year 2008 national program. Award recipients in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year award recipient, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 15.
