Diesel prices jump 8.2 cents to record $4.727

Diesel prices jumped again after falling slightly.

After a few weeks of small decreases, the average price of diesel rose $0.082 per gallon this week, according to the Energy Information Administration’s weekly retail on-highway diesel prices.

The price reflects a change of a whopping $1.878 per gallon increase from the same week last year.

Every region showed an increase in average prices this week with the Central Atlantic region topping the chart at $4.887 per gallon, followed closely by the West Coast region at $4.886 per gallon.

California rang in at $5.001 per gallon, up $0.073 a gallon from last week and $1.911 per gallon from one year ago.

The best place to buy a gallon of diesel today would be in the Midwest region where a gallon of diesel costs $4.654 an increase of $0.083 from last week.
