CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Electrical repairs to the Wheeling tunnel will require westbound motorists on Interstate 70 to bypass the Northern Panhandle city during evening hours.
The state Division of Highways says the repairs will take at least two months to complete.
The tunnel has been undergoing a series of repairs in recent years. The tunnel's eastbound lanes are being closed for a 14-week renovation project.
The DOH says the westbound lanes will be closed starting Monday, Aug. 4, between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Motorists are being urged to use the I-470 bypass to avoid the tunnels.
