KNOXVILLE, TENN. — IdleAire is closing and evacuating six of its Texas locations in advance of Hurricane Ike’s landfall, predicted for late tonight or early tomorrow as at least a Category 3 hurricane.
Closed are the IdleAire installations at the Baytown, Texas — the Baytown Conoco and the Baytown Pilot, the Orange, Texas, Pilot, Beaumont, Texas, Petro and the Champion Travel Plaza in Shepherd.
IdleAire plans to reopen the locations as soon as possible after the storm’s passage, based on potential flooding and the availability of electrical power and Internet service to the area.
Drivers can call IdleAire Customer Service at (877) 738-7024 or ask IdleAire personnel at any other of its locations for an update on conditions.
IdleAire has 131 locations in 34 states, providing filtered heating and air conditioning, electrical outlets, and a range of communications and entertainment options that allow long-haul truck drivers to shut down their engines instead of idling for cab comfort during daily rest periods.
