— Recession? What recession?
The Atlantic City Expressway set records for traffic and the amount of tolls paid in 2008 despite higher gas prices, lower casino revenue and an economic downturn.
The South Jersey Transportation Authority says more than 66.9 million vehicles used the toll road last year. That's up by almost 141,000 from the previous record set in 2006.
Atlantic City Expressway toll revenue totaled more than $63.5 million in 2008. That's $1.67 million higher than the record set in 2007.
The authority credits good weather and long holiday weekends.
