Ferro takes oath, moves into FMCSA office today

WASHINGTON — Anne S. Ferro was sworn in as administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Friday, administration sources have confirmed for The Trucker.

Nominated by President Barack Obama in June for a post vacant since January, Ferro will start work Monday, Nov. 16, as head of the modal agency charged with regulating the trucking industry under the U.S. Department of Transportation.

She comes to FMCSA after serving as president and CEO of the Maryland Motor Truck Association.

Between 1997 and 2003, Ferro served as Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Administrator where she established a strong record in highway safety, regulatory compliance and agency leadership, the president said in announcing her nomination.
