ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Interstate 35W bridge collapse will be a case study for emergency responders and planners at the National Transportation Safety Board's training center this week.

First responders from Minnesota will instruct others from around the country on how they handled the 2007 collapse that killed 13 people and injured 145 others.

NTSB spokesman Erik Grosof says the collapse is a textbook case study for a large scale urban transportation disaster that doesn't involve an airplane.

Those attending the conference at the training center in Ashburn, Virginia will learn how to maximize resources in securing a disaster site, the investigative process during a transportation disaster and providing assistance to the victims' families, among other things.

The training course runs Wednesday through Friday.
