Navistar 25-year veteran to continue to lead vehicle, powertrain integration efforts

WARRENVILLE, Ill. — Navistar International Corp. Thursday announced the appointment of Steve Ostarello to vice president of the company’s powertrain product development organization.

Ostarello, a Navistar veteran with more than 25 years of experience, has held numerous roles of increasing responsibility in the company’s engine engineering organization, including his most recent assignment as general manager, powertrain product development. Ostarello has been leading the company’s powertrain product development organization on an interim basis since the post was vacated earlier this year.

“Steve brings a wealth of knowledge about our truck and engine businesses, technical expertise and high standards for performance along with a broad view of our marketplace to his new role,” said Ramin Younessi, group vice president, Integrated Product Development and Strategy, Navistar. “Steve’s leadership abilities and track record of success are especially important as we move into launch phase with our 2010 programs.”

With more than 25 years experience at Navistar, Ostarello has held a variety of roles in manufacturing, purchasing and engineering. He has held executive leadership positions in the company’s engine engineering organization and led the company’s vee and inline engine businesses. He also led numerous quality improvement programs for the V-8 engine Navistar supplied to Ford Motor Company.

Ostarello holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
