ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Con-way Freight has been recognized by PolyOne Corp. as 2008 Less-than-Truckload Carrier of the Year for exemplary service, the LTL subsidiary of Con-way Inc. reports. Cleveland-based PolyOne provides specialized polymer materials, service and solutions.

“Con-way Freight consistently provides an industry-leading level of service that plays a vital role in our overall supply chain and enables us to deliver the level of service PolyOne’s customers expect,” said Steve Feliccia, director of corporate sourcing and logistics, PolyOne. “We’ve worked with them for many years, and the ease of doing business with them — combined with their tremendous service orientation and quick response to critical issues — made them the clear choice for Carrier of the Year recognition.”

Criteria for the award included Con-way Freight’s nearly 99 percent on-time pickup and delivery, as well as very low rates of claims and complaints. PolyOne selected Con-way Freight out of more than 50 North American motor carriers. This marks the company’s first win as PolyOne’s LTL Carrier of the Year.

“We’ve enjoyed a productive and successful working relationship with PolyOne for more than 10 years now. During that time, we’ve come to know their business well and understand how critical our exception-free, on-time and faster service is to their ability to compete in their market,” said John G. Labrie, president, Con-way Freight. “It’s a great honor to win this award and see that we’re delivering the service they need, and we look forward to continuing this relationship in the years to come.”

Con-way Freight said it handled more than 15,000 tons of freight for PolyOne during 2008.

Con-way Freight provided guaranteed, day-definite regional and transcontinental service through a unified network of more than 300 service centers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
