MEMPHIS, Tenn. — William J. Logue has been appointed president of FedEx Freight, parent company FedEx Corp. announced Nov. 3.
Logue will succeed Douglas G. Duncan, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Freight, who is retiring effective Feb. 28, 2010. To facilitate a smooth transition, Logue will serve as president of FedEx Freight beginning Dec. 1, and will assume the CEO role upon Duncan’s retirement.
Logue joined FedEx Express in 1989 through the Flying Tiger acquisition. In his current role at FedEx Express, Logue serves as executive vice president, chief operating officer, FedEx Express-United States, where he is responsible for FedEx Express Air Operations, Air Ground and Freight Services, Central Support Services and Domestic Ground Operations Divisions.
In his new position, Logue will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the FedEx Freight Segment, which includes FedEx Freight, FedEx National LTL and FedEx Custom Critical.
“Bill’s demonstrated ability to lead complex organizations and his in-depth transport operations experience make him an excellent choice as the new president and CEO of the FedEx Freight Segment,” said Frederick W. Smith, chairman, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Corp. “I want to recognize Doug Duncan for his many contributions in helping FedEx build our excellent LTL services. These capabilities have strengthened the FedEx portfolio and I am confident that Bill’s leadership will further enhance our performance in this key market.”
Within FedEx Corp., the FedEx Freight Segment had annual revenues of $4.4 billion in fiscal year 2009. With corporate offices in Memphis, the Segment includes FedEx Freight, which provides regional LTL freight services; FedEx National LTL, a U.S. provider of long-haul LTL services; FedEx Freight Canada, an LTL operating company serving most points in Canada; and FedEx Custom Critical, North America’s largest time-specific, critical shipment carrier.
