BREAKING NEWS: Senate confirms Ferro as next FMCSA administrator

WASHINGTON — The Senate late Thursday confirmed Anne S. Ferro to become the next administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Nominated by President Barack Obama in June, Ferro will be sworn in at an as yet unannounced time.

She is coming to FMCSA after serving as president and CEO of the Maryland Motor Transporation Association.

She appeared before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Sept. 23 and was confirmed by the committee Oct. 27.

At the same time, the Senate also approved the nomination of Cynthia L. Quarterman to be administrator of the Pipline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration of the Department of Transportation.
