TULSA, Okla. — News sources here report that Arrow Trucking Co., which operates some 1,400 trucks throughout the U.S., has shut its doors.
Drivers have said the company has stopped payment on their fuel cards stranding them at truck stops across the country, Tulsa World reported.
The Arrow Trucking firm headquarters, located at 4230 S. Elwood Avenue in Tulsa, became a scene of confusion and high emotions Tuesday morning, Tulsa 2NEWS reported.
No company officials or managers have so far offered any information to the press, reported the station, and employees said only limited information has been given to the workers and truckers employed by the firm.
Several wreckers were on the scene Tuesday, hauling off Arrow's trucks.
Ivy Braack, a recruiter for Arrow, told local news media that employees have been told that the company has "suspended operations."
The company’s Web site, however, made no mention of the closing.
Representatives of another trucking firm, LinkAmerica, this morning were reportedly on site at the firm to find out if they could help any Arrow truckers who might be stranded on the road.
Keith Storm, a manager with LinkAmerica, told reporters he knew of the situation through media reports, and that his company felt motivated to try and help.
"Our hearts go out to those employees," Storm said. "And believe me when I tell you, we want to help."
Most of the telephones at the company were not working and an administrative aide told the Tulsa World most of the building had been cleared out.
One trucker, Mike Williams, sent his mother a text message saying, “it’s over” and that “Everything is frozen right now.”
