MILLERSBURG, Ore. — Workers at the Weyerhaeuser Trucking Division in Millersburg have been told the facility will close by the end of June at a cost of 75 jobs.
Weyerhaeuser spokesman Greg Miller said the layoffs are partly due to the economy and part because the company does not consider trucking a core business.
The trucking division has a fleet of 42 trucks hauling mostly wood products to Oregon and Washington. Miller said he could not speculate on whether any of the employees would relocate within the Tacoma, Wash.-based company.
The Albany Democrat-Herald said those losing their jobs would be eligible for severance packages.
The announcement follows a decision this month to put its regional offices in Albany up for sale.
