Delaware launches new phase of summer enforcement

Police presence will be greatest in New Castle County, where 63 percent of the state's fatal crashes occurred last year.

DOVER, Del. — Delaware officials are launching the second phase of the annual campaign against aggressive driving.The Office of Highway Safety announced Monday that law enforcement agencies throughout the state will be patrolling roads where there have been a higher-than average number of crashes related to speed. They'll also be looking for drivers who run red lights.

Police presence will be greatest in New Castle County, where 63 percent of the state's fatal crashes occurred last year.

Officials say speed has been a factor in 30 percent of the state's 44 fatal crashes this year, up 10 percent from this time last year.

Officials are asking the public to report aggressive drivers. Anyone caught driving 10 mph over the limit will get 4 points on their license and a fine.
