JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri will move ahead on dozens of transportation projects that had been put on hold because of uncertain federal funding.

The Missouri Department of Transportation had canceled bid openings in February and March on $130 million worth of road and bridge projects.

The postponements followed passage by Congress of a smaller transportation program than the previous multi-year plan.

But legislation signed Thursday by President Barack Obama restores $243 million in federal transportation money to Missouri this year.

MoDOT officials say all of the projects will now go forward. Bids will be opened April 9 on the first 44 projects, totaling about $43 million.
