OKLAHOMA CITY — Meritor WABCO has scheduled a series of product ride and drive demonstrations on here May 6 at Remington Park.
The park is located at One Remington Place just west of Exit 132A on Interstate 35.
The ride and drive sessions will be from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
Meritor WABCO DM product training will be held in the Eclipse Room May 5 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
To register for the training, contact Bill Schlak at (248) 435-1871.
On the ride and drive, vehicles equipped with Meritor WABCO Safety Systems will be available to experience firsthand. The company will be featuring OnGuard, SmartTrac, Roll Stability Support plus (RSS plus), as well as a Telematics demonstration.
OnGuard Collision Safety Systems is a radar based Active Safety System based on Meritor WABCO’s Stability Control and Automatic Traction Control (ATC). OnGuard automatically brakes the vehicle in response to conditions indicating potential rear-end accident. OnGuard also incorporates Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) which keeps the vehicle at a set following distance from vehicles in its path when the cruise control is activated.
SmartTrac Stability Control Systems Roll Stability Control (RSC) is an active vehicle safety system that automatically intervenes if a high rollover risk is detected while driving. RSC continually checks and updates the lateral acceleration of the tractor and compares it to a critical threshold where rollover may occur. When the critical threshold is met, RSC intervenes by reducing engine torque, and engaging the engine retarder, while automatically applying drive axle and trailer brakes. Frequently, activation takes place before the driver is aware of the need. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) combines RSC rollover protection with directional stability providing added jackknife prevention as well as spinout and drift out control. This improves the vehicle handling and performance if there is an impending loss of control due to rotational forces. These forces may occur as a result of rapid lane change, or cornering maneuvers on slippery surfaces.
Roll Stability Support (RSS plus) is designed specifically for the North American trailer industry to offer more advanced features and added value. Continuing a history of delivering customer desired solutions, the new system builds upon the company’s current RSS offering which incorporates its industry-leading ABS functionality with other pertinent safety features such as improved roll mitigation.
The telematics demonstration will be showcased in order to show data transmissions from Meritor WABCO ABS systems. Information such as live Roll Stability Control events will be broadcast over J1939 and transmitted back to a dispatch unit on display.
