KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The new owners of a green technology company based in Knoxville say they'll take a conservative approach to expanding.
IdleAire was founded a decade ago to provide heat, air conditioning, Internet and satellite TV through a console that fits in the driver's window of tractor-trailer trucks at commercial truck stops. The technology allows truckers to turn off their truck engines when they stop to rest.
IdleAire expanded rapidly, eventually filed for bankruptcy and failed on Jan. 28.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports a group with a history of investing in green technologies has bought IdleAire and plans to begin with a more modest 25 locations.
Company CEO Mike Fielden said New York-based Convoy Solutions now owns the company and will hire 15 people at a Knoxville headquarters and about 25 others at various locations.
