Snow was continuing in the West’s Four Corners area and parts of Colorado today, shutting down the Denver Airport and making roads in mountainous areas especially hazardous.

A winter weather advisory remained in effect until noon today, and travelers were warned to be prepared for icy and snow-packed roads and drifting snow over the higher mountain passes.

A winter weather advisory also was called for northwest Colorado, with predictions of limited visibility caused by blowing snow.

Central Arizona was expecting snow Thursday evening as the storm that dropped snow on Colorado was expected to reorganize, dropping much of its load in the central and southern mountains.

Truckers should check weather in the local through which they’re traveling to make sure roads are passable and if chain restrictions are in effect.

Associated Press sources contributed to this report.
