HEFLIN, Ala. — Authorities say all westbound lanes on a stretch of Interstate 20 were shut down early Friday morning in eastern Alabama, causing traffic tie-ups for motorists.

Atlanta station WSB-TV reports that a large sink hole had formed, and the west-bound lanes of I-20 were closed as crews tried to make repairs.

WSB reports the problem was in the Heflin area, just west of the Georgia state line.
