Commercial vehicle orders in line with expectations in January

COLUMBUS, Ind. — North America medium and heavy duty Classes 5-7 and Class 8 commercial vehicle preliminary net orders for January were generally in line with expectations, reports ACT Research Co.

The final numbers, which will be released mid-February, will approach 25,200 units for heavy duty Class 8 trucks and 13,500 for medium duty Classes 5-7 vehicles.

The preliminary net order numbers are typically accurate to within 5 percent of actual.

 “There were no surprises with the level of order intake in January,” said Kenny Vieth, president and senior analyst, ACT Research. “The preliminary net orders for both Classes 5-7 and Class 8 support our forecasts for production in 2012.”
