Diesel up not quite a penny to $3.856, national average

WASHINGTON — The average price for a gallon of diesel has risen again, although the increase over the past two weeks still doesn’t add up to a penny.
Officially, the nationwide retail on-highway price for a gallon of diesel was $3.856, up six-tenths of one cent for the week, according to the Feb. 6 report by the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy.
The Central Atlantic region saw the biggest increase, up 1.3 cents, while the Lower Atlantic saw diesel drop just a bit, down 0.2 cents.
New England had the highest regional price at $4.101, though the state premium in California brought the average cost of a gallon of diesel there to $4.128.
The Midwest had the lowest average price, $3.751.

Diesel prices nationally are up 34.3 cents a gallon from a year ago.
