LAS VEGAS — A tanker crash and chemical spill has forced the closure of both directions of the busy Interstate 15 freeway near the California-Nevada state line.

Highway patrol officials in Nevada and California say the early Friday wreck happened several miles south of the state line town of Primm.

It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was injured.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has southbound traffic shut down at Primm.

The California Highway Patrol has northbound traffic stopped at Yates Well Road, Exit 291.

The freeway is a major route between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
