Average price of on-highway diesel jumps 5.4 cents

WASHINGTON — The average on-highway price of a gallon of diesel jumped 5.4 cents to $3.85 for the week ending Aug. 6, according to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy.
The price has now jumped 20.2 cents since the beginning of July.
However, the price remains 4.7 cents lower than the same period one year ago.
Every region in the country posted an increase, led by an 8.4 cent increase in the Rocky Mountain states and a 6.7 percent increase on the West Coast.
