Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Sept. 5 that $3.5 million in quick release emergency funds are being made available to the Louisiana Department of Transportation to “restock supplies and to begin the process of rebuilding” after Hurricane Isaac.

LaHood said the announcement builds on a major disaster declaration announced recently by the administration to make federal assistance, including emergency relief funds, available to supplement state and local response and recovery efforts.
