WALCOTT, Iowa --  The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is expanding.

Iowa 80 Truckstop officials said Friday that the 34th rendition of the event will run Thursday through Saturday this year instead of just Thursday and Friday.

Dates are July 11-13 at the Iowa 80 Truckstop here.

“We’ve had a lot of requests from drivers to continue the event on Saturday and decided 2013 was the year to do it,” says Heather DeBaillie, marketing manager.  “The Walcott Truckers Jamboree allows us to promote a positive image of trucking to the general public and it also gives us the opportunity to let drivers know how much we appreciate what they do to keep this country moving, so we feel adding one more day to the event is a very good decision.”

DeBaillie said everyone was welcome to join in celebrating America’s truckers and enjoy live country music, an Iowa pork chop cook-out, exhibits, carnival games, antique truck display, the Super Truck Beauty Contest, Trucker Olympics, a fireworks display and more.

The event takes place rain or shine and is always free.

The show annually attracts more than 30,000 visitors.
